Privacy Policy
Ride Modern provides mobile Apple CarPlay and Android Auto installation. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We have tried to write it in plain English.
Information we collect
Account and contact information. When you create an account or request a quote, we collect your name, email address, and phone number. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from Google; we never see your Google password.
Vehicle information. To price and complete your installation we collect your vehicle's year, make, model, and trim, and, if you provide it, your VIN. VINs are sent to the U.S. government's NHTSA vPIC database to decode your vehicle's specifications.
Installation details. Your service ZIP code, installation address (home or workplace), and scheduling preferences.
Vehicle photos. Before installation we require photos of your vehicle (such as your dashboard and VIN label) to verify compatibility and order the correct hardware. See “Vehicle photos and archival” below.
Payment information. Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card number goes directly to Stripe and is never stored on our servers. We retain records of transactions (amounts, dates, and payment status), not card numbers.
Communications. Emails you send us, quote requests, and review submissions.
Technical and security information. When you submit certain forms we record the IP address the request came from, to detect and prevent abuse. If we enable bot protection on a form, the IP address is also checked by Cloudflare Turnstile for the same purpose.
Installer applications. If you apply to install for us, this is not a customer relationship and we collect different information: your name, email address, phone number, the area you serve and how far you travel, your experience, whether you operate through a business entity, whether you carry insurance, whether you can work mobile, your availability, anything you add in your own words, and the IP address the application came from. We keep applications so we can contact you and so we have a record of who we assessed.
Site analytics. We use Plausible, a privacy-focused analytics service that does not use cookies and does not track you across other websites. It gives us aggregate information such as page views and general traffic sources.
How we use your information
We use your information to provide quotes, verify vehicle compatibility, order the correct hardware, schedule and complete your installation, process payments, send transactional emails (quote copies, order updates, appointment reminders, invoices, and review requests), prevent fraud and abuse, and improve our service. We limit quote emails per address to prevent abuse of our email system.
Use of artificial intelligence
We use AI tools to help build and operate our platform. Automated systems help us determine likely hardware compatibility and pricing for your vehicle; these determinations are representative, which is why we also require your photos before ordering vehicle-specific components — a human reviews them. We do not sell your personal information to AI companies, and we do not use your personal information to train AI models. If we introduce AI-powered features that interact with you directly (such as a chat assistant), we will identify them as AI and update this policy.
Vehicle photos and archival
The photos you submit are stored in private, access-controlled storage. Only you (for your own order), authorized Ride Modern staff, and the independent installer assigned to your job can view them. Please be aware that your submitted vehicle photos may be permanently archived as part of your order record. We retain them for compatibility verification, warranty support, dispute resolution, fraud prevention, and quality records. If you request deletion of your photos, we will honor the request where required by applicable law, except where we need to retain them for a legal obligation, an open dispute, or fraud prevention.
Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:
Service providers that run our platform. Stripe (payments), Supabase (secure database and photo storage), Vercel (website hosting), Resend (transactional email), Plausible (analytics), Google (only if you choose Google sign-in), and NHTSA vPIC (VIN decoding, a U.S. government service). If we turn on bot protection, Cloudflare (Turnstile) also processes the IP address of form submissions. Each receives only the information needed to perform its function.
Our installers. The independent installer assigned to your job receives your name, contact information, installation address, vehicle details, and relevant photos — the information needed to show up and do the work, nothing more.
Third-party data collectors, if ever applicable. We do not currently use advertising trackers or cross-site data collection tools. If we ever add such services in the future (for example, advertising analytics such as Google Analytics or ad-platform conversion tracking), we will update this policy to name them, explain what they collect, and provide any legally required consent mechanism before they are activated.
Publication of reviews you choose to submit. If you submit a review, we may publish it on this site together with your first name and your vehicle. We never publish your full name, contact details, or address. Submitting a review is entirely optional.
Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect against fraud or harm.
Data security
Customer data is protected with database-level access controls (every table enforces row-level security), and photos live in private storage buckets rather than public URLs — never public links. Staff and installer console accounts require two-factor authentication, and administrative actions on customer records are recorded in an audit log. A small number of internal operational tools authenticate with a service key held only by the business owner rather than by an individual console account; access to those is restricted to the owner.
Data retention
We keep account and order records for as long as needed to provide service, meet warranty and tax obligations, resolve disputes, and prevent fraud. Vehicle photos may be archived permanently as described above. Installer applications are kept while we are considering them and afterwards as a record of who we assessed; if you applied and would like your application deleted, email us and we will do it.
Your choices and rights
You may access and update your account information at any time, request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, request correction of inaccurate information, request deletion of your information (subject to the retention exceptions above), and opt out of non-essential emails. To exercise any of these, email hello@ridemodern.com. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable law; we will honor verified requests as the law requires.
Children
Our services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you by email. Continued use of the service after changes means you accept the updated policy.
